Shangri-La Plaza started its 2016 fashion fete campaign kicking off its hottest runway trends this summer

Leading lifestyle destination Shangri-La Plaza takes the summer heat a notch higher with a weekend fashion fete entitled Shang Style Spectrum presents Summer Silhouettes, culling the sartorial elements of the mall’s impressive children’s and casual adults’ brands.

Last May 14, day one of the fashion shows kicks off with an adorable kids’ collection at 2PM, featuring the mall’s top children’s wear brands. Little kids strut down the runway donning apparel from Barbie, Gingersnaps, Kidsports, Ogalala, Ollie & Co., Osh Kosh B’Gosh, Peppermint, Periwinkle, PJ’s Sleepwear, and Pois Belly & Kids.

Bold bright colors and prints were the name of the game in this season’s children’s wear anthologies. A deep fuschia pink and white striped dress from Barbie, a baby doll dress with big sunny yellow panels, and a striped tank top with a graphic print were just some of the pieces that highlighted the trending print. Gingham, plaid, and checkered remain to be popular in the boys’ wear. The prints were not only spotted on button downs, but on shorts as well.

At 4PM, the fashion show of G2000, Miss Selfridge, Topman, and Topshop start the lineup of women’s and men’s wear shows followed by the Debenhams, Gap, and Marks & Spencer show at 6PM, and finished off by the Stradivarius show at 8PM.

These different brands’ summer collections were tied together by a cohesive thread of freshness and lightness brought by the prominence of florals and stripes. These prints are often coupled with another trend, vivid colors, usually mixed with neutral tones to balance out the boldness. Of course, the timeless trend of denim is ever-present in the different brands—in shorts, jackets, acid wash, and destressed.

The second day shows on May 15 zeroes in on why the warm season is the perfect time to play with lights, brights and neutrals to inject that summer flair into your wardrobe.

Setting the mood for staples on stylish summer gatherings are Rustan’s Department Store’s trendy picks in soft and creamy pastel colors. Bring the quintessential country garden feel everywhere you go and fill your chic wardrobe with nature-inspired pieces like embellished caftans and silk dresses from Josie Natori’s latest collection. For the men, stock up on classic pieces in light-washed tones from Pedro Del Hierro and Adolfo Dominguez that are fitting for weekend getaways. To cap off their show, Rustan’s Department Store paraded the latest children’s looks from international brand Neck & Neck as well as from in-house favorites Kiddos, Rustan Jr. and Rustanette.

For the 7PM show, participating brands include Bayo, Celine, Details, Folded and Hung, ForMe, Memo, Mosaic, Oxygen, Penshoppe, Plains and Prints, Regatta, The Flower Collection, The Original Penguin, True Religion, Una Rosa, and Viseversa.

It doesn’t have to be all bold colors all-day, every day. Looks on the runway show you the power of Neutrals. Cream, white and beige tops make a great combination with brighter blues, greens and yellows. You can never go wrong pairing muted tones with a pop of color for that classic yet trendy image. The button-downs on the catwalk are proof that this style-staple transcends all seasons. Matching it up with a cute pair of denim jeans, and sandals makes this look your beach getaway #OOTD.

The romantic look and vivid colors make a scene on the catwalk, jazzed up with block colors and floral prints on maxi dresses. Men’s polo shirts give off that nautical vibe in navy blues, reds and whites. Kids are also fashion forward on the runway with their adorable prints, khaki pants and brightly colored shirts.

Finally, don’t miss the Fashion Installation at the East Atrium, which runs until May 15, to get a glimpse of what stylists from Team RAINxEM, composed of Rainier Dagala (Mega and Meg fashion editor) and Em Millan, suggest you wear for the summer from the same participating brands.
