Happy Chinese New Year 2013: Savory Classic
In the Philippines, Chinese New Year is celebrated not only by Chinese but also Filipinos as well as they embraced already its culture.
Instead of preparing the usual Tikoy, famous Philippine street food Fishball, and other Chinese food that we usually prepare in Chinese New Year; we went to the Original Savory restaurant, one of the famous Chinese Chicken house in the Philippines and was established four Chinese siblings which has a humble beginning.
Our family go here every Sunday after mass to take lunch (a typical setup though) at Savory Original in Escolta, Manila —this is the first branch of the restaurant and still exist, near Jones Bridge— and order Chicken spring which is consumable for five persons.
We went to take our lunch with my brother at their nearest branch which is in Robinsons Place Magnolia, located in New Manila.
I was suprised that they have an image of their the Original Savory branch near Sta. Cruz church which we went every Sunday with my family
Simple design and setup of their tables and chairs (I thing feng-shui guided though) but what I like is the images hanging on the wall which will tells you so many stories, story about the history not only the restaurant itself but also history of Manila which I think young generation has no idea about it.
Since I'm with my brother and we unable to order and finished a meal which is consumable by five persons, we ordered one of their popular combo meal. It is composed of their long-life Pancit Canton, Lumpia Shanghai, and their famous Chicken Spring.
This combo meal priced at 295 pesos which is not bad and very affordable in terms of Fine-dining.
At the same time, we also ordered their famous Chicken Lomi as appetizer.
The Chicken Lomi is priced at 135 pesos — consumable by two persons
If you want to experience one of the Philippines oldest Chinese restaurant, I'll definitely recommend theOriginal Savory or Classic Savory restaurant. Gong xi fa cai 2013 guys!!

Free Lapaz Batchoy at Freska and Greenhills Theater Mall
My younger brother treat me to a movie last two days ago; watched Tintin the movie — The movie was great especially people who read its comic. After that movie my brother again like to watched Immortal; should I decline the treat for the second time? Why not. So we where at the booth, I notice a sign that there is a free Lapaz Batchoy at Freska — which is located at the second floor of Promenade Greenhills — for every purchase of movie ticket at the Greenhills Theater Mall.
How to avail the Free Lapaz Batchoy at Freska
So we went there with my brother since the movie is within an hour; so, we have time to avail that free Lapaz Batchoy from Freska then. When you are at the restaurant, all you need to do is just to purchase any food for an amount of 100 pesos, and then you can avail that free Lapaz Batchoy — how about a dessert and a drink will do. The thing is, we have four tickets so we have four orders of Lapaz Batchoy.
After that eating session, the staff will sign the ticket proof that you already avail the perks of Greenhills Theater mall and Freska. I don't know until when is the said promo but I recommend this one to those who want free food before going to the movies. So Happy Watching and eating!

Somethin' Fishy: The best eat-all-you-can restaurant in Manila
During the days we do street-racing with my brother in C5 libis, of course honda civic hatchhack and toyota corolla 4age silvertop engine, wohooo! We usually be hungry around three in the morning. When we are strolling in Eastwood to look for a place to eat, we accidentally saw Somethin' Fishy along the way.
We are shocked because this restaurant offers unlimited breakfast or shall I say eat-all-you-can breakfast with a cheap price, not bad to those gluttonous fanatics out there. From 12 midnight to 10 in the morning next day, they serve this food promo to the consumer. So our rumbling tummy, rush to the nearest table to get some plates. Back then they only serve, I think nine buffet dishes, but recently, they are serving 20 dishes. Ok things get more excited. More food and more selection to choose from.
The foods that are on the menu list right now are; baked ham, spanish omelet, waffles, bibingka, puto bungbong, french toast, pork siomai, sweet-and-sour pork, chicken pringles, and sardines poured in tomato sauce. One that I like the most about these, is that they are unlimited or eat-all-you-can.
One of my favorite food that everytime I go back this restaurant is their famous Palabok. Eversince I was a kid I am fond of eating noodles and pasta, well, until now. Palabok with scrambled eggs and chesse dog is definitely my favorite combination. With the introduction of the baked ham and sweet-and-sour pork on the menu list, it will add again to my food choice if we where going back after a party.
My new found favorites are waffles poured in chocolate syrup or maple syrup added sliced banana or apple on the top. The restaurant is surrounded with offices that operates at night, it is no wonder why this restaurant is famous among call center agents. Even when I was employed at Dell, I usually come here to have my breakfast, a big breakfast. The price is not bad, 150 pesos per person compared if you will order a combo meal in a fastfood chain. So if any chances that you are hungry and you passed the Eastwood Libis, I recommend this restaurant. Happy Eating!
