One indication that you are a true blooded Manileño or born and raise in Manila at the same time born in 80's is the Luneta or Rizal Park's Childrens Playground. Those times where life is very simple; no Ipad, Ipod, Internet, and mushroomed shopping malls in the metro; this would be the ultimate hang-out for kids and teens especially on weekends.
Located at the heart of Manila and inside the Luneta Park/Rizal Park, this place brings out a lot of memories especially in my case were I was born in the 80's and true blooded Manileño; when I saw this place again while walking from a transaction made at the Department Of Tourism, maybe I'll try to go around again and see what's new inside of it. One thing that I like about visiting the place is that, they restore the Playground and opened to the public, thanks to the City Government Of Manila for taking care of it. The entrance fee on the park is just 10 Philippine pesos.
One thing and still in my mind is their giant slide which you can spot upon entering the said playground — I still remember when I was a kid, that I keep telling myself that this Luneta Playground was the largest playground in the world.
I'll slide for a many hours whenever we will visit this place — back then for me it was forever; this would be my favorite and the only slide that I like compare to other slide in the playground because of the polished surface on it.
Another one that I like is their see-saw; it is very apparent that their see-saw are new because back then, see-saws are made of wood in their original colors — brown. I guess those were already rotten maybe of time or termites. Also, as far I remember on those times, if you don't have a partner to complete the pair, you can tagged along any kid on that area and play see-saw with you — miss those days where kids are very polite compared today, some has attitude issues.
Other scenes and things that Luneta Playground can offer to the visitors are their lifesize animals and dinosaurs.
Back then, the only that we can view dinosaurs and some animals are from books. The Philippine government is smart to have this things to offer to the public — There were no Nat-Geo, Discovery Channel, and Manila Ocean Park back then. Some of the animals and dinosaurs recieved a customize paints from Fine-Arts students from a prestigious university here in the Manila.philippine tourism

If you want to experience the past and simple urban-living of Manila, this place would definitely a must to visit. For tourist this is also recommended to visit the place, a perfect for families and friends. It will remind you of the past City of Manila.
Life simple pleasure. Bonding with human and nature.
Hope to see you there.
