Lyceum of the Philippines Culinary Institute Wins Eight Medals in Hong Kong International Culinary Classic
Last May 9 to 11, 2015, students and chef instructors of the Lyceum of the Philippines (LPU) showed off their knife and cooking skills at the recently concluded Hong Kong International Culinary Classic (HKICC) competition. After weeks of practice and preparations, LPU Manila were able to bring home an impressive haul of eight medals out of ten categories they competed in. An honor these students happily shared with their beloved alma mater and of the country.
"We couldn't be any prouder. As the team captain of the LPU team to HKICC 2015, I feel much honored to be part of this journey that was instrumental in uplifting not only LPU's name in the international culinary community. And in the same token did the country proud as well," said Chef Dan Basilio, Culinary Director of LPU Culinary Institute (LPU CI). "This is a concrete proof that our methods and trainings here (LPU CI) are effective. And because of this, it inspires and motivates me to do better, to improve and innovate, to seek the latest in the culinary field and happily share these learning to all of our students."

The Hong Kong International Culinary Classic 2015, a bi-annual culinary platform that pits the best of the best of Asia, was part of the 16th International Exhibition of Food & Drink, Hotel, Restaurant & Foodservice Equipment, and Supplies & Services known commonly as HOFEX 2015. The competition gathered not only the outstanding chefs and culinary students from Asia but also from other parts of the world. In order to excel in this type of tournament, participants are not only expected to have mastered classic culinary skills and methods, they must also be abreast with the latest advancement in the global culinary equipment applications.
"Students at LPU CI are more than able to master the use of the most progressive culinary equipment used and facilitated worldwide because of our world class facilities," shared Chef Dan. "By incorporating, the steady use of these equipment to our programs, we are able to expose our students to these type of kitchen set-up where they can practice their techniques and hone their skills on a daily basis. Such familiarization provided our students and faculty who joined the HKICC 2015 gain a huge advantage over their competitors."

Last week, Lyceum of the Philippines officially announced there newest institution that caters young minds who wants to be in the Culinary industry. The said institute was established as an extension of the Lyceum of the Philippines University Manila campus to provide ideal kitchen laboratory facilities for its more 8,000 students enrolled in Tourism and Hospitality Management courses. But now its officially opening its doors to the public offering courses that will enhance their skills and careers in the Culinary industry.
Guess I'm one of those who are lucky who was invited on the said opening. On set of the press-con, staff where already preparing the lunch for the press and guess.
The faculty staff discusses to the media the aim and goal of the school, at the same time, what the institution can offer when they enrolled to the school.
The introduction of their bright students and teachers which a big impact once they graduated.
